Q. Why do I even need a password manager?
A. For the sake of security, it is better to have different passwords for every service to make sure that your sensitive information is secured. Even if credentials on one of the websites or services is compromised, all the rest of your credentials to other services will be safe as every of them has its unique strong password. With our password manager, you will need to remember only ONE master password, all your other passwords will be safely stored in the encrypted local data storage. Privacy is our highest concern, that's why our password manager is fully offline solution, your data is stored ONLY on your smartphone or tablet, nowhere else.
Q. I forgot my password, how can I restore the access to my data?
A. The only way to restore the access to your data is to recall your password. The data is encrypted using AES cypher algorithm and your password is used as a key for encryption/decryption, there is no way to get the access to your data without knowing the password, that’s why NS Wallet is very secure app.
Q. What happens if I’ve lost the device or it is broken?
A. First of all, do not worry, your data is encrypted and nobody will be able to access your data without your password. On the other hand, you do not have your data anymore. That’s sad but you can avoid this situation if you periodically will make backups (Menu “Backup”-> button “Manual Backup”) and transfer files to your Mac/PC (the most reliable and recommended way is to store it on the USB stick and keep in the real safe)
Q. How can I be sure that the app is secure and does not have any backdoors?
A. NS Wallet is on the market since 2012 and most security issues were already eliminated. Moreover, it is an open source project, anybody can visit our
github page and check the app source code. On top of that,
deployment process is also open and you can track what exactly was built and published by checking our automated building process on
bitrise.
We work hard to make sure that the development and publishing process is transparent
Q. I want my native language to be added to NS Wallet, is that possible?
A. Sure! We will add support for many languages, if you are missing your native language in the list or you found misspelling or mistake in the existing language, feel free to write to our support team. Read also here how you can contribute to add support for new languages (we can support even klingon if somebody will provide appropriate translations 🙂 ).
Q. I bought new phone, how do I transfer all my data to the new phone?
A. Your passwords are stored only locally on your phone, there are no copies on any cloud/servers and this behaviour has the purpose: we respect your private data and keeping it secure is the main goal of the app, your data is only on your phone, nowhere else. There is one disadvantage of this approach: you have to take care about transferring the data on your own. Do not panic, it is quite easy and can be done quite fast.
Q. I want to have an early access to new version of the app, can I do it?
A. Sure, join our Google+ community and get the latest available version of the app on our BETA channel
Q. I forgot my password but I want to start using NS Wallet from the scratch, how can I reset the application?
A. Uninstall the application and install it again.
Q. I want to import data to NS Wallet using CSV/XML/Text file. Can I do it?
A. Not yet but we are working on that.
Q. Will be there Desktop version of the application? When?
A. Yes, Desktop version of the application will be available but we cannot tell you the date of release yet as we have dependency on the desktop framework development, keep tracking our news on this website or on Facebook/Twitter
Q. Is there any documentation or tutorials on the app usage?
A. Yes, we started publishing the video tutorials on youtube, you can find them here: https://faq.nswallet.com/tutorials.html
Q. I didn’t find the answer to my question here, what can I do?
A. Create an issue on the github issue tracker
